Quadrant diagram basics

Critical Note about Quadrant diagrams

Quadrant diagrams are analytical tools. They describe behavioral patterns; they are not moral rankings.

A common mistake is to interpret one quadrant as inherently superior. That would be misleading in this model.

Different positions in the diagram simply reflect different combinations of factors being analyzed. No quadrant automatically represents a “better,” “smarter,” or more ethical position.

The role of the reader here is that of an objective observer describing how the world works. The goal is not to judge individuals, but to evaluate, measure, and assign values to observable phenomena so that different patterns can be compared with one another.

The purpose of the diagram is therefore to examine behavioral dynamics and trade-offs, not to determine which quadrant contains “better” people. Context determines whether a given position is useful, neutral, or problematic.
